SUMMARY:Short Circular Ride from Peckham to Brookmill Park and Telegraph Hill
DESCRIPTION:Short Circular Ride from Peckham to Brookmill Park and Telegraph Hill \nNOTE. You must register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/short-circular-ride-from-peckham-to-brookmill-park-and-telegraph-hill-tickets-2004197495661?aff=oddtdtcreator \n10.00 start at Peckham Rye Park café (The Round).  A ride round some of the park before we head to the Ladywell and Brockley cemetery with a brief stop at the Buckthorne Cutting nature reserve en route.  A circuit of the merged 1850s cemeteries looking for the Avenue of the Dead\, then on to the Waterlink Way to Brookmill Park spotting herons and the fountain of life.  We then head back via Brockley Cross to explore Telegraph Hill (Lower). This has an interesting statue and memorial garden for the former slave and abolitionist Olaudah Equiano. Next a coffee break at Telegraph Hill Farmers’ Market.   Our final stop is to admire the view at the top by Haberdashers school\, and the Upper park where we will see the site of the Admiralty’s semaphore station. This station was part of a line from Greenwich to Portsmouth for use during the Napoleonic Wars. They probably played a part in bringing the news of victory at Waterloo.  Ride ends with a short downhill ride back to PR Park café for about 12pm. SUMMARY:Cutty Sark to Lesnes Abbey Healthy Ride

Start at 10:00am and return to Cutty Sark at approximately 13:30pm.  Mike K. leading. Outwards mostly along the Thames Path passing the O2\, the statues in North Greenwich and the Thames Barrier\, eventually getting to Galleon’s Reach.  Galleon’s Reach  was the place where the Princess Alice sank\, costing 900 live in September 1878. We will then join the Green Chain Path towards Thamesmead murals and stop for group photos before proceeding on to Lesnes Abbey ruins for a coffee break.
