Installation of Cycle Racks - July 2004

Over 150 new locations across Southwark, have had cycle parking in the form of Sheffield stands installed. Do you know somewhere cycle parking is needed? If so email: info@southwarkcyclists.org.uk

Southwark now has a total of 852 stands at 251 different locations across the borough.

The Department of Transport website has more information on installing cycle racks, and also examples of good practice.

The Scottish Executive has a standard for the sizing of parking. However, they do comment that Sheffield Stands could be 'bolted to the ground'. Anything that can be unbolted or pulled out can be stolen. Sheffield Stands and wall-mounted hooks should have cross-bars buried in the concrete to prevent them being levered out.
