Bike Maintenance Classes

on Tue, 28/06/2011 - 6:44pm

We started these classes some years ago when there was a shortage of maintenance training. Now there is a good selection of classes by other providers and we have stopped to offer ours.

The dates for the next Tuesday maintenance courses are

5/12/19/26 April

3/10/17/24 May 2011

from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

Course details: We've done ten series of classes now and the feedback has been excellent. People really like the advantages of learning to work on their own bikes with professional mechanics in a fully equipped (and fascinatingly cavernous!) workshop attached to an independant bike shop. The courses are designed to give all time to cover all the basics - to see the work being done and then to practice on their own bikes. The course is all about giving you the confidence to look after your bike properly and to do basic roadside repairs if need be. From how to clean and maintain it properly to fixing punctures - and how to prevent them before they happen - to adjusting brakes, gears and dealing with routine mechanical problems. And when to take your bike in for professional care. There's a lot of information and top tips scattered about too.

Please note that these courses are about working on modern bikes and using spares, etc. currently available in good shops. We'll be as helpful as we can with older bikes but don't carry vintage parts etc.
