Increasing cycling will hugely improve the health of Londoners

Increasing cycling in line with the Mayor’s vision will give Londoners around 5000 years of extra healthy life, with an economic benefit of £250 million.  If all journeys that could be walked or cycled were walked or cycled, this would provide a £2 billion economic benefit.  This information comes from a new study by Lucy Saunders (Public Health Specialist at the GLA).  Report is called Transport and Health in London and is well worth a read – it is nice and concise.
